Have We Been Driving in the Wrong Lane? Pivoting from Past Setbacks to Future Therapeutic Successes
Francis Berenbaum
In 2018, due to the overwhelming unmet need for the millions of patients who suffer from osteoarthritis (OA), the Food and Drug Administration identified this disease as a serious condition, a label that opens the door to expedited drug approval programs. Despite this recent opportunity to accelerate the development of new therapeutic solutions, there are currently no disease-modifying OA drug on the market, or even close to be approved. The purpose of this lecture is to discuss new avenues of development to achieve success based on what we have learned from previous failures.
